Tyler Schmidt has been a middle school educator for the last 14 years, spending equal time in the Grain Valley and Independence School District. He has taught 8th-grade science and 6-8 theater. Mr. Schmidt also had an opportunity to coach middle school basketball and soccer as well as high school boys'/girls' soccer during his Grain Valley tenure. In Grain Valley, he served as the Middle/High School Director of Summer School last summer and will again this summer.
Mr. Schmidt received his Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education with a concentration in 5-9 Science and 5-9 Speech/Theater from Northwest Missouri State. He immediately continued his education to get his Master's in Science in Education Leadership at the Secondary level and graduated in 2010. His ability to connect with people and lead by example with positive energy is one of Tyler's strong suits.
Mr. Schmidt is the husband of Courtney Schmidt, a Middle School Special Education teacher in Grain Valley. They have three kids: Eleanor, 8, Patrick, 5, and Jett, 2.
Tyler is ready to get into Lexington, meet the great people of the town, and begin connecting with staff. “The town’s rich tradition and pride will be the foundation we stand on with a glorious future ahead, we will come together as a school community. Greatness cannot be accomplished alone, and we will look to garner a collective strength from all stakeholders. Let’s get after it"
